Our Turnitin account is configured not to store submitted papers, so no matter how often you use it, your paper won’t be added to Turnitin’s database.
What does % mean in the AI report?
In Turnitin AI reports after July 16, 2024, if the AI proportion is between 1%-19%, it will be displayed as *% instead of a specific value. For AI proportions of 0% or over 20%, the exact value will be shown. This is due to potential inaccuracies in estimating AI content. If your school doesn’t require the AI proportion to be 0%, a *% result is typically acceptable.
Are the AI measurements from T-detector consistent with those from the school's Turnitin?
As long as the content submitted to T-detector matches the paper submitted to your school, the AI detection results should align. However, slight changes to your paper (like grammar or wording) after checking can cause discrepancies in AI results. Always recheck after making edits to avoid differences between T-detector and Turnitin’s results.
Is the content of the reference list included in the duplication rate?
No, the content of reference lists is excluded from the duplication rate by default in T-detector, in line with the practice of most schools and journals.

The AI report might not be generated if your document is written in a non-English language or exceeds the word count limit (320–29,999 words). If these aren’t the issues, please try submitting your document again.

When you revise parts of your paper, even minor changes, it can affect the AI evaluation of other sections. As a result, sections that were not marked as AI in the first check could now be flagged in subsequent checks, even after small revisions. For instance, a paper initially showing 0% AI might end up with a 30% AI detection after minor revisions. To better illustrate, imagine Sam wrote a 1,000-word paper divided into five parts: A, B, C, D, and E. Initially, part C was flagged for AI content. After Sam revised part C, a recheck revealed that the flag for part C might have disappeared, but now part A, which was initially clear of any flags, was now flagged for AI. This happens because AI detection looks at the entire document as a whole and not just previously flagged sections. Therefore, content that was not marked as AI initially might later be flagged depending on the changes made to the paper as a whole. So, once a section is flagged as AI, it isn’t permanently marked, and an unflagged section can be marked after revisions.

To protect user privacy, reports and documents are automatically deleted after 24 hours. If you miss the window, we can’t retrieve the report. However, a copy of the report is sent to your registered email, where you can download it.
Will my AI ratio remain 0% in Turnitin forever?
Turnitin’s AI detection system is periodically updated. While your current AI result may show 0%, future updates could affect previous results. However, this won’t impact immediate assignment submissions.
